What is a Workout?
Perhaps the late, pro football coach George Allen said it best: "A workout is 25 percent PERSPIRATION and 75 percent DETERMINATION. It is a triumph over laziness and procrastination and the mark of a WINNER - an organized, goal-oriented person who takes charge of his/her destiny. A workout makes you better today than you were yesterday. It strengthens the body, relaxes the mind and toughens the spirit. A workout is a form of REBIRTH. When you finish a workout, you don't simply feel better. YOU FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF!"

Functional Fitness Training
The trainers at Mt Si Sports & Fitness specialize in Functional Fitness training. This is different from a body builder's approach to training which typically develops routines that isolate muscle groups to create a sculpted physique. The primary goal of Functional Fitness is to develop athleticism which includes balance, agility, flexibility, range of motion and stamina. It is derived from the sport-specific training used for various types of sports and is a different way to train than most people are accustomed to. Functional Fitness training encourages your muscles to work together in a coordinated fashion rather than in isolation. This is more consistent with the movements we use in everyday life. Although Mt Si Sports & Fitness will offer each new member a free gym orientation, they encourage everyone to consider hiring a trainer regardless of their own personal exercise experience.
